About the Artist

Baukje Exler is a Dutch artist with more than 20 years of experience and a deep love for the expressive possibilities of oil pastel. Through careful layering and gentle blending with cloth, she creates atmospheric artworks in which colour, light and texture work together to capture both the visible beauty of a landscape and the feeling it evokes.

Her work often draws inspiration from quiet moments in nature - mist drifting across a field, birds moving through the dawn, or the soft light falling over winter grasses. These peaceful observations become richly textured scenes that invite us to pause, notice and appreciate the subtle beauty of the world around us.

The Toverlux Lantern Shades – Baukje Exler Quiet Early Mornings – Pack of 5 brings five peaceful landscapes into the gentle glow of the Toverlux Lantern. Each shade captures a different early-morning moment in nature, from the movement of birds along the shore to the stillness of a winter meadow, allowing Baukje’s layered oil pastel textures and atmospheric colours to shine beautifully when illuminated.

The collection begins with Waves Chasers, where little birds hurry in and out of the surf along the shoreline. Herder depicts a shepherd moving calmly among his flock, while Robins captures small birds resting amongst the grasses of an open landscape. In Deer, a magnificent stag emerges through winter snow and mist, creating a quiet, almost dreamlike scene. Finally, Heath shows sheep resting beneath a tree on the open heathland.

Easy to Use and Store

Each shade folds neatly into a cylinder and is secured with split pins before being placed around the Toverlux Lantern, allowing the artwork to glow gently from within. When not in use, the shades fold flat and can be stored in the included protective sleeve, making it easy to change the scenes as the mood or season inspires you.
