About Melody – Founder of Little Acorns to Mighty Oaks

Melody is the founder of Little Acorns to Mighty Oaks, an independent UK store since 2008, offering carefully curated Waldorf-inspired sustainable toys that inspire imaginative, creative, and open-ended play, support mindful, sustainable living, and nurture the magic and wonder of childhood.

Melody holds a Diploma in Teaching (Early Childhood Education) and spent 13 years working in early childhood education, supporting young children during the most important years of their development. Through her work she developed a deep understanding of how play supports creativity, confidence, emotional wellbeing and lifelong learning.

After becoming a mother to her three children, Melody chose to home educate, allowing her family to embrace a slower, child-led approach to learning inspired by Waldorf principles. Her experience as both an educator and a parent led her to seek out toys made from natural materials that encourage imagination, creativity and meaningful play rather than passive entertainment.

Little Acorns to Mighty Oaks was created from this passion, to help other families discover beautiful, sustainable toys that support open-ended play, creativity and healthy childhood development.

Through the blog, Melody shares insights from both her professional background in early childhood education and her real-life experience as a home-educating parent, helping families choose Waldorf-inspired toys that nurture curiosity, independence and a lifelong love of learning. Melody writes about Waldorf toys, open-ended play, sustainable toys, child-led learning, and the joys of sustainable slow living, sharing her expertise and practical tips to help families create thoughtful, meaningful play experiences.
