Be Loud and Bold – An Advent Calendar Made for Celebrating Childhood!

This year's Advent Calendar has arrived with a wonderfully different spirit. Be Loud and Bold is an invitation to celebrate childhood in all its creativity, freedom and joyful unpredictability - to play freely, make your own rules, try new things, create, imagine and fill the days of Advent with memories.

Created around the Waldorf tradition of the four kingdoms, the Advent journey moves through mineral, plant, animal and human, with each of the four weeks dedicated to one of these kingdoms. Each Sunday, a candle can be lit to honour the kingdom of the week, creating a gentle rhythm as Christmas approaches.

But this year, the calendar comes with an important message: you make the rules.

Inside the beautifully presented box are more than 180 individual treasures, bringing together natural and tactile materials including wood, fabric, thread, wool and more. Each day brings a new little discovery, ready to become part of play, crafting, decorating, imagining or simply enjoying the moment.

And there is another little surprise waiting inside every box.

A Little More Beauty Every Day

Alongside the daily treasures, each box contains an extra gift from Zuzanna Celej, an illustrator whose work has been chosen to accompany this year's Advent journey.

You'll need an empty space ready for these daily illustrations. As each day unfolds, another beautiful drawing is added, gradually filling the space and creating something that grows throughout Advent.

We think this is a particularly lovely idea: rather than simply opening something and moving on to the next day, the calendar slowly becomes a collection of memories and beautiful details gathered together over the course of the season.

And because Christmas is all about beauty, what better way to spend the final weeks of the year?

24 Invitations to Make Advent Your Own

Included with the calendar is a beautifully created booklet containing 24 invitations to play, craft, think, talk, feel and simply be, accompanied by 24 boxes filled with tiny treasures and trinkets to discover along the way.

Together, the booklet and its daily surprises create an Advent journey that unfolds one day at a time, with new ideas, materials and possibilities waiting to be explored.

They are not rules or instructions that have to be followed in a particular way. This is your Advent Calendar, and you are encouraged to make it your own.

You might follow the invitation for the day, choose to make it completely your own, colour the booklet, add your own notes, share an idea with a friend or even start reading from the back. You can follow the suggestions exactly as they are written or take them somewhere entirely your own.

Because the heart of this year's calendar is freedom.

You make the rules. Your choices matter.

The remaining pages of the booklet are kept as a little secret, ready to be discovered throughout the 24 days of Advent. We won't spoil those surprises here - part of the joy is finding them for yourself, one day at a time.

When Can You Start?

Following the Waldorf tradition, the four weeks of Advent are each dedicated to one of the four kingdoms — mineral, plant, animal and human. The journey begins on the first Sunday of Advent, when a candle is traditionally lit to mark the beginning of the season and honour the kingdom for that week.

This year, the first Sunday of Advent falls on 29th November, which means you can choose to open the first box on that day rather than waiting until 1st December. From there, the calendar follows the Advent journey through the four kingdoms, with each Sunday marking the beginning of a new week.

Of course, your Advent is yours to make your own. If you'd prefer to begin on 1st December, you can simply start then and open one box each day through to Christmas.

The choice is yours.

A Calendar for Playing, Creating and Celebrating

Be Loud and Bold encourages children to embrace the wonderful freedom of childhood - to invent new rules, perhaps break a few, get creative and enjoy the magic of the season in their own way.

Along the way, you'll find invitations to craft and create, little treasures to incorporate into imaginative play and daily opportunities to stop, wonder, make something and spend time together.

You'll need a few simple household items to make the most of some of the invitations, including scissors, a glue stick, wax, a needle suitable for thick thread, flour, salt and some extra wool. These are things you may already have at home or may be able to borrow.

Rather than being simply a collection of things to open, this Advent Calendar is designed to become an experience that unfolds day by day — with tiny treasures, beautiful illustrations, creative invitations and plenty of room for children to make their own choices.

So open the first box, see what awaits you and let the Advent journey begin.
