Grimm's Alphabet Cards - Lower Case

The Grimm's Alphabet Cards – Lower Case (Supplementary Kit) is designed to extend and deepen early literacy work through hands-on exploration.

This set includes 48 beautifully illustrated lower case letter cards, featuring additional consonants, vowels, German umlauts (ä, ö, ü), the Eszett (ß), and common phonetic pairs such as au, ei, eu, ch, and sch. It is intended as a companion to the Grimm's Letter Cards English set, allowing children to expand their reading and spelling skills.

Rooted in Waldorf and Montessori-inspired language learning, these alphabet cards encourage children to physically manipulate letters as they build words. This tactile approach strengthens phonemic awareness, letter recognition, and early spelling confidence. Working with letter combinations such as “ch” or “sch” also supports deeper phonics understanding, particularly in bilingual or German language contexts.

Children can sort letters by sound, create simple word families, explore vowel pairings, or play matching and sequencing games using the included play ideas (provided in both German and English). Because the cards are handled individually, learning becomes active rather than abstract.
